murder, manslaughter, aggravated sexual assault, aggravated robbery, intoxication manslaughter, family violence assault, aggravated assault, deadly weapon, arson, burglary, theft, kidnapping, intoxication, as well as all significant Fourth Amendment issues stemming from arrests, searches and seizures in drug related and controlled substance cases.
- Grand Jury Representation
We engage early and defend at the Grand Jury and Intake stage of proceedings. Successful representation at the Grand Jury and Intake stage is designed to secure a No Bill or reduced misdemeanor charge, or a declination of prosecution which is often even better than a dismissal. Since Grand Jury proceedings are conducted in secret, and since it is often difficult or impossible to obtain, review and properly analyze evidence in the State’s possession early on, it is essential that people charged with felonies or misdemeanor crimes engage an experienced, successful Grand Jury lawyer as soon after their felony arrest or charge as possible.
- Expunction Lawyer
The firm has extensive experience properly preparing the expunction motion and obtain complete and proper expunction orders. Our goal here is the same it has been for the past fourteen years: we focus on what needs to be done and what can lawfully be done to wipe clean from all applicable government files, any mention of or reference to the client’s arrest record, criminal charge, bonding information through the jails or any other indication that the case was ever filed. A successful expunction – for a particular criminal matter – puts the person who obtains it in the position of legally being able to answer, “NO” to the question, “Have you ever been arrested, charged or convicted of – that particular criminal matter?”
- Parole Lawyer
Bill Meili has successfully represented a number of clients before Parole Boards and Parole Hearing Officers. The goal here typically is to keep someone from having his or her parole revoked, or to have his or her request for parole granted as soon as possible. A good parole lawyer knows how to work administrative and beauracratic systems and offices for the client’s maximum benefit. And actually, Parole representation is very similar, in many ways, to representation before Military Administrative Separation Boards of Officers and Boards of Inquiry. The same general themes, strategies and advocacy tactics apply to both, and Bill Meili has developed a winning approach in both areas now over the past fourteen years.
