Dear Bill,

I know you receive many appreciative emails from the soldiers you help; however, as a mother, and the first to speak to you regarding my son's situation, I wanted to send my own sincere thank you for taking care of my son AND his family.

In retrospect, I think of that first conversation, me in tears, and you saying all the right things. As a mother, I needed to hear that experience in your voice and your determination to provide the best possible representation for my son. Having worked in the legal field for more than 25 years, I know how important having the right attorney, with the applicable expertise can be. It was a huge decision for a family to make at a very vulnerable and frightening time. It was imperative to know that we hired the right person. And we did!

I did not speak to you again until you called me with the terrific news. I made a conscious decision not to call because I knew you needed to develop a relationship with my son as you built his case. Every mother is concerned for their child’s health and welfare; but I also knew my son's disability, sustained while serving in the U. S. Army, made him physically unable to fulfill this deployment. It was important for you to learn everything you could from my son. And what a relationship you created! My son's description of you continues to be the same, "Mom, he is a good man." You helped him get through every hoop and provided enormous emotional support that no family member could. You will never know how grateful I am for that.

I am not sure how many moms call you, hysterical or otherwise. However, if you come across one who you think would benefit from speaking to another mom who lived the nightmare, do not hesitate to let me know. The support system that you have developed is truly amazing and I would be proud to be a part of it.
