IRR Delay and Exemption
Client Testimonial #24 - From an Army Sergeant granted IRR exemption

I would like to take a moment and tell you about my experience with Bill Meili.  Back in September 2008, I came home from work for lunch one day and found that my wife had placed the infamous FEDEX package on our kitchen table…a set of orders mobilizing me to Iraq for a 400-day tour beginning in November 2008.  Almost immediately, the reality quickly settled in and we realized that we had to take some kind of action to help resolve this matter one way or another.

We had several concerns that immediately came to mind, since I had been out of the U.S. Army for over one and a half years.  I had unresolved medical issues from my previous active duty time.  The possibility of losing our home was imminent due to the loss wages that would be incurred during my mobilization.  My wife’s immigration status was placed in jeopardy because I would be unable to physically appear at her immigration interview, which could possibly result in her deportation.

During the next 24 hours, we searched a multitude of websites hoping to find some answers and we came across Bill Meili’s website.  We were quite impressed with his professional looking website and all of the effort he put in by keeping it updated with current information about the IRR recall situation.  After conducting further research, I had a good feeling about Bill Meili and I called his office.  My instincts were right---I had chosen the right person to represent my case.

From the moment I made that initial phone call, my wife and I felt as though a burden was immediately taken off of us.  Bill Meili made himself readily available and he walked us through every detail.  We soon found out that the exemption process entails an insurmountable amount of research and paperwork to prepare an effective exemption package.  Without Bill Meili’s legal assistance, I would have been daunted by this overwhelming task and my life, family, and job would have suffered as a result.

Three months after receiving my initial recall orders, the U.S. Army granted my exemption in December 2008 and they subsequently discharged me from the IRR in January 2009.  It took me about another three months just to get my life back to normal.  In summary, my wife and I are extremely grateful for the professional service that Bill Meili provided in helping our family resolve this matter with a positive outcome.  I would highly recommend Bill Meili to anyone going through an IRR recall, because of his professional expertise and his personal concern for you, your family and your case.

Sincerely,

David G.
Former IRR Sergeant, U.S. Army
