IRR Delay and Exemption
Client Testimonial #4 - A Company Grade Officer's Experience

I served on active duty from November 2001 to November 2005. After my four years of active duty, I separated as a Captain, and I was transferred to the IRR. Never in a million years would I have imagined that I would be "involuntarily mobilized" for a second deployment to Iraq by HRC, but that became a reality in December 2007, over two years after I separated.

When I first got word of my orders, I had so many emotions running through my mind that I could not think properly. For the first time in a long time, I felt completely lost and had nowhere to turn. I called HRC in St. Louis and advised them that I would be filing for an exemption. They told me I had a one week deadline to gather up all the documents.

By chance, I happened to come across Bill Meili’s name on the internet and decided to research him. I saw that Bill had extensive experience in dealing with IRR cases, so I gave him a call to see what my options were. After speaking to Bill, I knew he would be the one to help me with my situation. I knew I was talking to a professional because Bill knew his stuff inside out. His 25 plus years of legal experience in the US Army was evident.

One of the first things Bill did was to get the Army to postpone my one week requirement to gather up the necessary documents. This deadline was almost impossible to meet, and there was no way that I could have gathered this information alone. That action in itself was so valuable that it solidified in my mind that I had made the right decision in hiring Bill.

When I first hired Bill, the first thing he told me was to relax and realize that I had help. From that point on, it was such a relief to completely delegate this matter to him. After spending five years overseas, I had just moved back to the United States from Germany to start a new career, and I was recently married. To say I was busy is a complete understatement. Initially, I contemplated tackling the situation myself, but after reality set in I realized I needed help because of the complex rules of the military. Throughout my entire ordeal Bill was completely engaged with me, gave me constant updates, and was relentless in making sure that I completed what he needed to do his job properly.

Bill successfully got my mobilization orders revoked, and I am completely indebted to him. He helped me every step of the way, but most importantly, he gave me hope that there is help amidst the maze of the military legal system.

For anybody in the same situation, I highly encourage working with Bill Meili. I implore you to not do it alone; the military system is too complex and it is impossible to devote the time that is required to obtain a favorable decision. If you work with Bill, there will not be an ounce of regret.

Sincerely,
SAC
