I will never forget the day that I received my involuntary mobilization orders. I found an envelope from the Army on my doorstep and opened it thinking it was my Commission Resignation paperwork. I had already served a significant portion of my 8 year obligation including a tour in Iraq for OIF III. I separated from the Army as a Captain in October 2006 confident that I would be able to finish my time in the IRR without a call up. Man was I wrong. I was completely blindsided by these orders calling me back to Active Duty and sending me to Iraq. I immediately called the help line for HRC and they provided no help as usual. I called the Delay and Exemption office and was told I had 2 weeks to file an IRR Delay and Exemption Request.
After spinning my wheels trying to figure out what to do, it was suggested to me that I get some legal help. My wife and I searched on-line and I came across a colleague of Bill´s. We exchanged information and he passed my information on to Bill. Within five minutes, Bill called me.
