SOLDIER HAD ONLY 5 DAYS TO SUBMIT HIS CASE

IRR Delay and Exemption
Client Testimonial #13 - This Soldier Had Only 5 Days to Submit His Case

I will never forget the day that I received my involuntary mobilization orders. I found an envelope from the Army on my doorstep and opened it thinking it was my Commission Resignation paperwork. I had already served a significant portion of my 8 year obligation including a tour in Iraq for OIF III. I separated from the Army as a Captain in October 2006 confident that I would be able to finish my time in the IRR without a call up. Man was I wrong. I was completely blindsided by these orders calling me back to Active Duty and sending me to Iraq. I immediately called the help line for HRC and they provided no help as usual. I called the Delay and Exemption office and was told I had 2 weeks to file an IRR Delay and Exemption Request.

After spinning my wheels trying to figure out what to do, it was suggested to me that I get some legal help. My wife and I searched on-line and I came across a colleague of Bill´s. We exchanged information and he passed my information on to Bill. Within five minutes, Bill called me. We spoke for a little while and after our conversation, I felt completely at ease for the first time since I received my orders. I decided to hire Bill the next day. At that point, we only had about 5 days to get my paperwork in to HRC. Bill guided me through all of the paperwork that was necessary to build a solid case. He told me what documents I would need to be successful and which ones would be a waste of time. Bill spoke with both my father and my pregnant wife during the process and gave them some much needed comfort and assurance.

Bill and I spoke and/or emailed every day until my paperwork was in HRC´s hands. Once he confirmed that they received it, Bill contacted me every few days to give me an update. After only a couple weeks, Bill called me with the great news that my request for an Exemption had been granted and that HRC had accepted my Commission Resignation.

My family and I cannot thank Bill Meili enough. Bill is a dedicated professional with years of experience, unmatched personal dedication and touch, and extensive knowledge and expertise in Military Law. Bill kept my family and me calm throughout the process and thanks to him, I will be able to be home with my wife for the birth of our daughter. Next month, I will receive my Honorable Discharge from the Army. I enthusiastically recommend Bill Meili to anyone who is in this situation.

Respectfully,
MA
Captain, Field Artillery
